Photographer Gray Malin captures the world of luxury ski mountains from above in a series of stunning winter photographs entitled "A la montagne". Carpeted by the white snow, the majestic geographical surroundings create a beautiful canvas for skiers, chairlifts and other objects to appear as colorful patterns below. This series is a visual celebration of natural form, color, repetition and winter joy! All the stuff we love, that is.

Ο φωτογράφος Gray Malin δημιούργησε μια σειρά από φαντασμαγορικές φωτογραφίες με τίτλο "A la montagne" που αιχμαλωτίζουν στο φακό τον κόσμο των χειμερινών σπορ από ψηλά. Το κατάλευκο χιόνι και τα μεγαλοπρεπή χιονισμένα τοπία λειτουργούν ως ένας ιδανικός άσπρος καμβάς για τους σκιέρ που με τα πολύχρωμα ρούχα τους δημιουργούν ενδιαφέροντα σχήματα και μοτίβα. Αυτές οι φωτογραφίες είναι μια οπτική γιορτή φυσικών μορφών, επανάληψης σχημάτων και χρωμάτων και χειμερινής ευδαιμονίας!

*Spread the Love

The Baltimore Love Project expresses love by connecting people and communities across Baltimore City through love themed murals. A few years ago, local artist Michael Owen developed a design of four hands spelling out the word love. Since then, this image has been painted on several walls across the different communities of Baltimore City. The murals, which are identical in regards to content and only ranging in size, continue to spread out in the city aiming to inspire change and to spread the feeling of love.

Ένα σχέδιο του καλλιτέχνη Michael Owen που απεικονίζει τέσσερα χέρια τα οποία σχηματίζουν τη λέξη αγάπη αποτυπώνεται σε μεγάλων διαστάσεων τοιχογραφίες που καταλαμβάνουν εμφανή σημεία διάσπαρτα μέσα στον αστικό ιστό της Βαλτιμόρης. Η πρωτοβουλία αυτή με τίτλο The Baltimore Love Project επιχειρεί να εμπνεύσει θετικά συναισθήματα στους κατοίκους των διαφόρων κοινοτήτων της πόλης μεταφέροντας το μήνυμα της αγάπης και της αλληλεγγύης.

Aυτή την Κυριακή 29 Σεπτεμβρίου θα βρεθούμε μεταξύ παρόντος και παρελθόντος υφαίνοντας μια νέα χωρική εγκατάσταση στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο του Μυστρά. Η εγκατάσταση θα πραγματοποιηθεί στα πλαίσια του εορτασμού των Ευρωπαϊκών Ημερών Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς 2013 "Τα Πρόσωπα του Χρόνου" υπό την αιγίδα της Γενικής Διεύθυνσης Αρχαιοτήτων και Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμου, σε συνεργασία με την 5η Εφορεία Βυζαντινών Αρχαιοτήτων και την Πνευματική Εστία Σπάρτης και με την ευγενική χορηγία της εταιρείας Mistras Group Inc.

On Sunday, September 29th you will find us between past and present, weaving a new spatial installation in the archaeological site of Mystras, in Sparta, Greece. The installation will take place within the framework of the celebration for the European Heritage Days 2013 "The Faces of Time" under the auspices of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in cooperation with the 5th Conservancy of Byzantine Antiquities and the Cultural Center of Sparta and the kind sponsorship of Mistras Group Inc.

 Shooting from doorless helicopters around the world, photographer Gray Malin has created a series of amazing photographs entitled "A la plage, A la piscine". "From above a simple beach becomes a blank canvas that allows me to start seeing the world as art. People and objects become patterns creating repetition, shape and form. These photographs are a visual celebration of color, light, shape -and summer bliss" We agree! And we add one last picture of our own to this collection. (yes we have been in a doorless helicopter.)

Τραβώντας φωτογραφίες από ελικόπτερα χωρίς πόρτες σε διάφορες τοποθεσίες του πλανήτη, ο φωτογράφος Gray Malin δημιούργήσε μια σειρά από εκπληκτικές φωτογραφίες με τίτλο "A la plage, A La Piscine». "Από ψηλά μια απλή παραλία μετατρέπεται σε έναν κενό καμβά που μου επιτρέπει να αρχίσω να βλέπω τον κόσμο ως τέχνη. Οι άνθρωποι και τα αντικείμενα γίνονται μοτίβα σε επανάληψη, δημιουργώντας ενδιαφέροντα σχήματα και μορφές. * ΠΡΟΣΕΧΩΣ / COMING SOON

"COMING SOON" is an installation that aims to reinterpret the existing urban landscape and enhance the discourse on open air public spaces as well as their engagement to the community. The intervention acts as an occasion that triggers the process of transformation of abandoned spaces into active places of leisure and communication. 

The action takes place in the abandoned open-air cinema of Messolonghi and attempts to restore hope for reclaiming lost spaces of the city with a nostalgic, cinematic mood. A wired frame made of reused cables, typically used to weave the spectators' chairs in Greek summer cinemas, displays an inviting and promising message and mediates the cinematographic plot to a storytelling installation. The common perception of Messolonghi, a mere reflection of the city in the lagoon is reversed. The traditional fishing boat, reminder of the lagoon, relocates the field of interest within the city, and the installation becomes an invitation to an exciting and unexpected interweaving of actions and relationships within the public realm.

Η εγκατάσταση "ΠΡΟΣΕΧΩΣ" παροτρύνει τους κατοίκους της πόλης να ευαισθητοποιηθούν και να εξοικειωθούν με το δημόσιο χώρο και τους τόπους συνύπαρξης και συναναστροφής. Επαναφέρει την ελπίδα για την ανάκτηση των χαμένων χώρων της πόλης με μια νοσταλγική, κινηματογραφική διάθεση.

Η δράση λαμβάνει χώρα στο εγκαταλελειμμένο θερινό σινεμά του Μεσολογγίου και επιχειρεί να φέρει στο προσκήνιο το χαρακτήρα του θερινού σινεμά: τη συνάθροιση, τη συναναστροφή, την επικοινωνία. Το μέσο για την κατασκευή είναι το ευτελές υλικό καλώδιο, υπόλειμμα από καθίσματα αντίστοιχα με εκείνα των θερινών κινηματογράφων. Η πλοκή διαδραματίζεται κυριολεκτικά στην οθόνη με τη δημιουργία δικτυώματος από καλώδια, δημιουργώντας μια εικόνα που παραπέμπει στα δίχτυα των ψαράδων. 

Με την εγκατάσταση αυτή επιχειρείται μια αντιστροφή της παραδοσιακής εικόνας του Μεσολογγίου, της πόλης που αντικατοπτρίζεται στη λιμνοθάλασσα. Η προσοχή τώρα στρέφεται στην πόλη. Η γαΐτα, ως υπενθύμιση της  θάλασσας, τοποθετείται μέσα στην πόλη σηματοδοτώντας εκ νέου το πεδίο ενδιαφέροντος. Τα δίχτυα πλέκουν την εγκαταλελειμμένη μέχρι πρότινος οθόνη του κινηματογράφου, ενεργοποιώντας έναν παρατημένο δημόσιο χώρο.

Το αποτέλεσμα της εγκατάστασης είναι η δημιουργία ενός πραγματικού και μεταφορικού δικτυώματος ανθρώπων, ιδεών, οραμάτων. Η κατασκευή, με ένα αισιόδοξο μήνυμα, προσκαλεί τους κατοίκους σε μια δημιουργική εμπλοκή και κοινωνική όσμωση, καλώντας τους να επανεξετάσουν τη σχέση και το ρόλο τους μέσα στην πόλη.

Nests of light|from Russia with love*

Is a nest on a tree already architecture or still a forest? The project was created for the purposes of the Archstoyanie festival in 2012 and responds to the question above: A manmade nest occupies a position in between: it is of evidently artificial origin, but “lives” on a tree and does not exist without it, it shines – but in the forest, where there is no one to shine for.The light gives the natural space a status of being habitable, developed by man. The clearing becomes a square, the tree becomes a street-lamp.

As compared to its dweller, a nest is more like furniture than architecture. A nest of light in the forest reminds us of interiors, of green suits and halls, corridors and vaults, of all the architectural undertakings that can be met in an ordinary forest. Η εγκατάσταση που δημιουργήθηκε στα πλαίσια του Archstoyanie festival στη Ρωσία σηματοδοτεί ένα δάσος με φωτεινές φωλιές, μετατρέποντας με διακριτικό τρόπο ένα ακατέργαστο φυσικό τοπίο σε ένα πανηγυρικό τόπο.
