With construction paper and scissors, mother and 4-year-old daughter thrive in the area of ​​paper-haute couture! Μαμά και κόρη παίρνουν χαρτόνι και ψαλίδι και μεγαλουργούν στο χώρο της χαρτο-υψηλής ραπτικής! Η έμπνευση προέρχεται από παντού: αυτοσχεδιασμοί, παιδικοί ήρωες, εμφανίσεις από το κόκκινο χαλί αλλά και το αμερικάνικο show Project Runway. Όπως εξηγεί η μαμά της, η μικρή Mayhem επιλέγει μέσω internet τα φορέματα που θα ήθελε να φορέσει, η μαμά συγκεντρώνει τα απαραίτητα υλικά και μαζί χειροτεχνούν εκπληκτικές δημιουργίες απο χαρτί. *Rainbow pencils

Tokyo based designer Duncan Shotton just launched a Kickstarter project for a new kind of pencil that makes rainbows when you sharpen it. Each pencil has a 6-layer rainbow core of recycled paper (not wood) and either a white or a black exterior. We love rainbows, we love pencils, we love rainbow pencils!

Ο Duncan Shotton, designer με έδρα το Τόκιο έχει ξεκινήσει στο Kickstarter μια εκστρατεία για τη δημιουργία ενός νέου είδους μολυβιού, το οποίο αντί για απλά ξύσματα παράγει ουράνια τόξα. Κάθε μολύβι έχει στο εσωτερικό του 6 στρώσεις χρωματιστού ανακυκλωμένου χαρτιού (όχι ξύλο) και είτε λευκό ή μαύρο εξωτερικό. Το project έχει ήδη συγκεντρώσει τα τριπλάσια από τα προβλεπόμενα χρήματα για την πραγματοποίησή του.

 Shooting from doorless helicopters around the world, photographer Gray Malin has created a series of amazing photographs entitled "A la plage, A la piscine". "From above a simple beach becomes a blank canvas that allows me to start seeing the world as art. People and objects become patterns creating repetition, shape and form. These photographs are a visual celebration of color, light, shape -and summer bliss" We agree! And we add one last picture of our own to this collection. (yes we have been in a doorless helicopter.)

Τραβώντας φωτογραφίες από ελικόπτερα χωρίς πόρτες σε διάφορες τοποθεσίες του πλανήτη, ο φωτογράφος Gray Malin δημιούργήσε μια σειρά από εκπληκτικές φωτογραφίες με τίτλο "A la plage, A La Piscine». "Από ψηλά μια απλή παραλία μετατρέπεται σε έναν κενό καμβά που μου επιτρέπει να αρχίσω να βλέπω τον κόσμο ως τέχνη. Οι άνθρωποι και τα αντικείμενα γίνονται μοτίβα σε επανάληψη, δημιουργώντας ενδιαφέροντα σχήματα και μορφές. *Santa's Blood Pack

 

Finnish designer Kiseung Lee urges people to fill stockings with more vital gifts this Christmas: donations to the blood bank. His conceptual stocking-shaped blood packs were on show as part of Helsinki Design Week in September, although they were filled with red pigment rather than actual blood. Lee wants to stimulate donations as a generous gesture that's easy to make but could mean the difference between life and death to someone else. As people tend to show a stiff motivation and response to donation, he hopes his new blood bag design will help inspire active blood donating boom across the world.

Ο Φινλανδός σχεδιαστής Lee Kiseung μας παρακινεί να γεμίσουμε τις Χριστουγεννιάτικες κάλτσες με πιο ζωτικής σημασίας δώρα αυτά τα Χριστούγεννα: δωρεές προς την τράπεζα αίματος. Τα πρωτοποριακά πακέτα αποθήκευσης αίματος σε σχήμα Χριστουγεννιάτικης κάλτσας που σχεδίασε, παρουσιάστηκαν στα πλαίσια της έκθεσης Helsinki Design Week το Σεπτέμβριο και ήταν γεμάτα με κόκκινη χρωστική ουσία και όχι με πραγματικό αίμα. Με την πρότασή του αυτή επιχειρεί να τονίσει τη γενναιόδωρία της αιμοδοσίας ως μια χειρονομία που είναι εύκολο να πραγματοποιηθεί από όλους μας, αλλά θα μπορούσε να σημάνει τη διαφορά μεταξύ ζωής και θανάτου για κάποιον άλλο.

*Oh Joy! Unexpected weather by Kut Collective

"We brought the country to the city. To revive the grey concrete, to break the routine and give you a moment to reflect on what we are and where we are going. Sometimes surprises just happen and we have no influence over them but we do have influence over our perception. How ready are you to accept whatever life throws at you with a smile?"

"Oh Joy" is a poetic video documenting a guerrilla action that took place in the streets of Riga by Latvian collective Kut who  describe themselves as "a creative collective consisting of filmmakers, musicians, artists, politicians and cats,”. Unleashing sacks of fluffy cattail seeds from a rooftop unexpectedly transformed the grey urban setting into a white scenery and astonished drivers and put a smile on pedestrians' faces.

Ένα φιλμάκι με ποιητική ατμόσφαιρα είναι το "Oh Joy", στο οποίο καταγράφεται η πρόσφατη δράση της ομάδας Kut που πραγματοποιήθηκε μια γκρίζα μέρα στους δρόμους της Ρίγας στη Λεττονία. Μεταφέροντας "κλέφτες" από την εξοχή και απελευθερώνοντάς τους από μια ταράτσα στο κέντρο της πόλης, κατάφεραν να μετατρέψουν το γκρίζο αστικό τοπίο σε ένα αναπάντεχο λευκό σκηνικό εκπλήσσοντας τους περαστικούς οδηγούς και κάνοντας τους σαστισμένους πεζούς να χαμογελάσουν.

*Fan Pinwheels

Ara Peterson & Jim Drain created a mind trip of household fan driven pinwheelswhich are dizzying and fascinating to walk through at Avant/Garde Diaries Transmission LA: A/V Club at MoCA… Constantly spinning as you wander through them and feel slight breezes coming from different angles, they suck you in if you fixate too hard on a particular one… and looking back it’s amazing to see that it really is just regular fans strategically positioned moving them

*Time tree

Time tree "Idabash Plano" project is the illustration of information concerning a particular housing distric in Tokyo developed by Earthscape architectural practise. Lines, words and images are reflected upon the paved surface of the entire complex. The development of the design pattern is created through a radial deployment of lines and images, the root of it being the camphor tree situated within the open urban space. Signage at different parts of the district also include a contemporary view on distance units from and to Mount Fugi. Information follows a chronological order moving from old to new information offering an illustrated overview of the historical features of the region.
