French photographer Alain Delorme's newest series of photographs is entitled "Totems". Captured in the streets of Shanghai throughout 2009 and 2010 these images portray anonymous porters and their fascinating loads of stacked ‘made in China’ products which form unusual colorful sculptures. The verticality of these formations echoes the incessant expansion of the urban area, constantly under construction. Here, Delorme gives a new vision full of humor and poetry of those porters – both super heroes and ants in a vast city - with impressive loads of tires, water containers, office chairs, flowers. He focuses on the individuality of these workers, as opposed to all those identical and interchangeable objects.

Ο Γάλλος φωτογράφος Alain Delorme παρουσίασε μια σειρά από φωτογραφίες τραβηγμένες στους δρόμους της Σαγκάης τις οποίες ονόμασε "Τοτέμ". Σε αυτές απεικονίζονται αχθοφόροι με τα ιδιόμορφα φορτία τους, σωρούς από "made in China" αντικέιμενα, που στοιβαζόμενα σχηματίζουν ασυνήθιστα πολύχρωμα γλυπτά. Η καθ' ύψος ανάπτυξη αυτών των ιδιόμορφων σχηματισμών απηχεί την αδιάκοπη αστικοποίηση των κινεζικών πόλεων. Ο Delorme μέσα από το έργο του δίνει μια διττή εικόνα των εργαζόμενων αυτών ανθρώπων, ποιητική και αστεία ταυτόχρονα. Σούπερ ήρωες ή μυρμήγκια στους δρόμους της μεγαλούπολης?
